Directed a team charged with developing and deploying portfolio analytics,
reporting, financial statement analysis and managing offshore resources and Risk Systems, to support a $70B portfolio.
- Created a Value-at-Risk modeling system that facilitated the strategic management of a $10B equity portfolio. The system was the first and only of its kind, received two highly visible awards
and was considered for patenting.
- Developed a screening tool that identified which customers would experience financial stress within the next 18 months. The tool provided a concise, effective means to help portfolio managers prioritize their efforts.
- Designed and developed a flexible solution for reporting and exploratory analysis. The system reduced manpower effort by 50%+ and improved productivity by $32k annually.
- Led the Basel II Initiative to support economic and regulatory capital, improved portfolio transparency, and released more than $375MM in capital. Received GE Risk award for the results.
- Spearheaded the development of a global Risk Data
Warehouse. The system was completed early, under budget and served 500+
employees, across 17 systems, and reduced manpower effort by two years
annually.
- Played a key role in 30+ due diligences that exceeded $50B in assets. Developed a systematic approach to evaluating acquisitions in terms of loss forecasting, look-alike analysis, and forensic portfolio analytics.
Vice President, Global Portfolio Analysis (1998-2001)
Directed a team responsible for developing analytics that support prudent portfolio management.
- Developed a statistical approach to estimate future equipment values. The approach eliminated the need to purchase forecasts and helped to identify values that were driven by short-term
market phenomenon.

THE PILLSBURY COMPANY, Minneapolis, MN 1981 – 1982
Economic Analyst: Created Forecasts using OLS regression and time series techniques.
- Examined the effectiveness of a direct sales force compared to broker sales within the Green Giant subsidiary. The results provided a prototype business model that would be considered within Pillsbury.
